Masons of Dallas Serving Dallas 2-22-22
Tuesday, February 22, 2020, Freemasons from all over Dallas came together with family and friends at the Dallas Scottish Rite Cathedral to pack meals for the Dallas City Square food pantry. The Masons of Dallas set a goal to pack 55,000 meals in an hour and a half. With the help of almost 200 volunteers, including Masons from 26 different Lodges, their friends, and families, we were able to pack 55,160 meals!
Upon arrival at the Cathedral, volunteers were treated to a meal prepared by members of Tannehill Masonic Lodge. After dinner, everyone filed into the Crystal Ballroom where they donned hair nets and gloves and were assigned to a station. Everyone gathered around large, yellow funnels and waited for the gong signaling them to start. The next 90 minutes involved a well-orchestrated, energy filled assembly line involving upbeat music and cheers as the team reached milestones of 8,000, 16,000, 25,000, 40,000 and finally
56,160 meals packed!
Over the three years of the program the Masons of Dallas have provided 126,620 meals to help fight hunger in Dallas.
126,620 Meals to Date
Thank you to all the Lodges and Masonic bodies who donated and/or participated in making our latest event a huge success. A special thanks also goes out to the Dallas Scottish Rite for donating the space for the event.
Hunger is an ongoing problem in our community. If you are part of an organization looking for a fun and rewarding way to make a positive impact, contact The Pack Shack and schedule a Feed the Funnel party.
