Why I Became a Freemason

For what is a man? What has he got? If not himself, then he has not. To say the things he truly feels, and not the words of one who kneels. Those words come from a famous song by Frank Sinatra. The song is called My Way. Great song. That's the way I used to look at life. I can do it all by myself. It served me very well for the first forty four years of my life, until I felt like I needed to belong to something. Something that would make me feel better about myself and my community. I had a friend who was a Freemason. He seemed to really enjoy it so I messaged him one evening one and started asking questions. Man was I in for a shock. It wasn't at all the things I had heard about. When I went to meet him at the lodge for the first time I was fascinated with the history of it all. Every single man I met that day shook my hand and welcomed me as if they had known me their entire life. It felt good. It felt like home. They say you can never go back home again. They are wrong! Now let's go back to the top and the song. What is a man? What has he got? If not himself, then he has not. This is a true statement. If you can't believe or trust in yourself you are lost. Once you have a brother you are never alone for the rest of your days. To say the things he truly feels, and not the words of one who kneels. Well I did kneel, and it has been one of the best things I have ever done in my life. If this short little note inspires you at all come on down and see us. We are always looking to make good men better men.

Gloria Dei Est Celare Verbum. Amen

- Albert Pike
